When I first heard about AK (Avenue K) Food Adventure for bloggers, the first thing that came across my mind was the AK-47 assault rifle. Since we were invited to try out their 20 participated F&B outlets, I guess we were ready and willingly to have our taste buds to be assaulted by the “food rifle” 😛
Of all 20 participated outlets, we only managed to cover 15. I can’t really introduce the outlets one by one but I’ll just go ahead and highlight a few. You’ll just see more pictures than writing content this time as “picture tells a thousand words”.
Here is the list of the destinations we touched down (the sequence doesn’t rank them in any ways):
1) Wondermama X
Located at ground floor (next to Johnny Rocket) I was attracted by its “old skool” interior. It reminded me of the old house I used to stay with my grandparents when I was little and also some elements of our old primary school. They basically serve local cuisine but added some “twist” onto them.
2) Marutama Ra-men
Ra-men basically means handmade noodle, specifically Japanese handmade noodle. What is so special about this outlet is their food ingredient is “free of preservatives, MSG or any other additives”. They focus very much on freshest and most original flavor and ingredient. I have to say, the soup is quite nice and the egg, yummy (just look at the picture and you’ll understand). Nothing fancy about the outlet environment. I guess their focus is very much on originality and simplicity.
3) Tokyo Pastry
If you are looking for a quiet and comfortable environment to hang out with pastry and coffee, you may visit this pastry house. They used a very antique kind of theme for their interior design and you can choose to sit inside or there is another bigger area outside of the outlet for bigger group. We tried the Green Tea Matcha Mille Crepe, it is nice. You can feel the layers melting in your mouth. By the way, they do have All Day Breakfast too.
4) Samba Brazilian Steakhouse
Meat Eater, this is for you! If you love steak, grilled and all-you-can-eat buffet, you should try this. Lunch Buffet is 69.90++ and Dinner Buffet is 99.90++, from Monday to Sunday. They also serve ala carte but if you are taking buffet, you will “constantly” be served with the grilled stuffs. There is 1 token on the table for everyone. This is for buffet use whereby if you want to continue to be assaulted by the meats, just keep the green top and when you want to surrender, just flip it to the red side.
It came to my surprise to know that Simplyd is own by the famous Delicious group (www.thedeliciousgroup.com) of restaurant. I guess Simplyd basically means “Simply Delicious”. For that, you can rest assure that quality of food is guaranteed. This chained outlets focus on fast but yet fresh and delicious food. They also offer delivery service (office folks might like this). I was amazed to see their small kitchen can produce such a variety of foods to choose, from main course to desserts, even coffee.
After the meal we met up with a young entrepreneur who produce his own homemade Belgian chocolates. If you are looking for a more exclusive chocolate with customization service, do look for him. He also provides choices of packaging for all occasions. Do support him and find more information here: www.maisondlights.com.
For coffee lovers, I guess you are no stranger to this brand. They do serve quite good coffee and decent environment for people to just sit down, hang out and sip some coffees. Their staffs were also very nice and easily approached, even for a favor of taking photo of you (refer to the picture and you will know what I mean ;)).
8) FatBoy’s – The Burger Bar
Looking for burgers with nasty taste and size? Here is the right place for you! They offer a wide selection of western food, specifically American burgers. The size is huge and the portion is big, and it just taste great. Here’s one more great thing, the soft drinks are free refill! You can find FatBoy’s at the top floor of AK, just next to the escalator. It is impossible to miss it 😉
This American franchise of typical western fast food came into Malaysia and immediately opened up numbers of branches. I missed the opportunity to visit their Sunway branch but I was told they also serve big portion hamburgers. This was our last destination after assaulted by 14 outlets earlier. We were very much exhausted and trying hard to pull ourselves together to complete this adventure. Out of sudden, there was a loud classic disco music playing and some staffs started dancing on the floor. It was a very happening situation and really mood-changing. After finished dancing, they just got back to work like nothing ever happened 0.olll I love their milkshake very much. It was so milky as if I was drinking a glass of McD Sundae ice-cream (and yes, I really meant like drinking ice-cream!).
Despite the above, there are many more choices of F&B in AK that you can just take a quick bite or take away if you are in hurry as follow:
Christmas is near! AK is having a series of events and happenings until end of the year. During our visit there, we managed to witness these:
And so, I have completed my foodie journey. It was a fun whole day in AK enjoying the environment, atmosphere, events and the foods. We also made some blogger friends along the way, including a family of 4 who were all bloggers (dad, mom and 2 daughters), which we shared our insights of our destinations. How amazing is that? Hehehe…
That’s all for now. Hopefully I am classified as WANTED again in the future for events like this, WANTED for FOOD (and other cool great stuffs)!!!
